About Mount Mansfield Martial Arts Club
The System:
The Mount Mansfield Martial Arts Club is based on combining both Shaolin Kempo Karate and Shaolin Wushu Kung Fu.
School Goal:
The Goal of the Mount Mansfield Martial Arts Club is to develop each student's mind, body and spirit to the highest potential, through practicing the “ Rules of Honor ”, dedication and hard work.
The Rules of Honor:
Mount Mansfield Martial Arts Club members are to practice and display the Rules of Honor at home, at school and at work.
Respect - Treat other people the way you would like to be treated.
Self-Discipline - Doing the things you know that you should do, whether you want to or not.
Self-Control - Controlling your behavior and being responsible for your actions.
Student Development:
As a member of the Mount Mansfield Martial Arts Club, each member will have the opportunity to progress through the ranks learning the following:
Forms – Specific body movements that condition the body and simulate fighting imaginary opponents, for practice of stances, blocks, kicks and punches. Many of the forms have historic roots in ancient Asian martial arts.
Combinations – Specific self defense patterns used in hand to hand combat.
Techniques – Mind and body development that includes jumping, ducking, rolling, tumbling, and other acrobatic skills. Other techniques are related to specific martial arts self defense skills such as blocks, punches, kicks and grappling.
Weapons – Training will begin at the level of Purple Belt. The student will learn traditional weaponry skills, and study forms that were developed in Asia , and brought into the contemporary martial arts competition field.
